Glad you got it sorted, I had my old PC with 1.6 in the cupboard and was able to check it worked and then copied it over and it solved my problem. As others have said, I still think there's site problems that means connections can take a while.

If you're not already compromised and/or part of a bot net you will be soon enough.

Personally i'd shut that one down and wipe/re-install the OS before you bring it back into the internal network. I assume you used the DMZ host option on your router so you might have already compromised your internal network anyways since that box would be able to talk directly to your internal network AND you exposed it unprotected on the internet. Once compromised its a simple lateral move to the rest of your network, which im going to assume you dont have locked down in any meaningful way.

Port forwarding is the correct solution here NOT dropping your box unprotected on the internet

I've said "... turned of the firewall in my modem and put my rig in the DMZ but all to no avail." which means that I've tried those options to see if the problem would go away. Since it wasn't, both have been re-activated again . . .

Re: To firewalled or not to firewalled

Not linked to the issue, but to your posts, and it's a minor thing, none of them seem to tag either the date or the artist, which will make tag searching difficult for people trying to find stuff in future or avoiding duplicate posts down the line. These should create automatically if you're uploading from a browser, so not sure why they're not. Maybe one for the admins?
