Want to make a CAM Mix.

Hi all,

I want to make a CAM Mix using Sony Vegas 8.0.

I have different sources but the problem is that they are different formats, some are fullscreen and some are widescreen.

What do I have to do with this?

And another question: as which file do I need to save it once I'm done combining the sources?

One way of doing it is to crop the top and bottom your 4:3 footage so that is looks 16:9.

I found a post on another forum that provides instructions on how to do this in Vegas Video.

Put your 16x9 footage on a 16x9 project. Put your 4x3 on the same timeline.
Now, right click on the little square (pan/crop) on the 4x3 clip. When the window opens on the top, click on the (untitled) when window opens select 16x9 widescreen. This will put black on the top and bottom of your 4x3. You will loose some footage on the top and bottom, but usually it's OK even if you did not plan for cutting off the top and bottom.

The file format depends on where you want to go with the finished product. If you are going to place it on a dvd for viewing on a set top player, then you'll want to select file>render as... and select mpeg-2 in the drop down box that is underneath the filename. You'll also want to click on the drop down box that says "select template" and choose NTSC DVD or PAL DVD (depending what part of the world you are in). From there you can either click save, or you can click the custom button to adjust your settings even more. Rendering will take some time, but it should yield a *.m2v file, which will be ready for dvd. To save the audio stream, repeat the same process, except select windows .wav for the file format, and 16 bit 48khz under the template. this should yield your dvd compliant .wav file. I hope that helps you out and doesn't confuse you.

keep in mind that different WS modes shoot in differing aspects sometimes, so you might need to tweak it a bit
