DAT is a type of recording device, not a level of recording quality.
DAT = Digital Audio Tape

I agree on the possible crappy mic, not much as far as freq response.

But in re the original question, yeah, it could be a 32KHz DAT...which is what I think you were asking.

the 32kHz DAT rolls off at 16kHz.. this is much lower. I don't see any evidence of DAT or not DAT. It is simply a low fidelity recording..

And DAT's DAT. Or not.

With a mic rolling off much lower, you wouldn't see the 16kHz rolloff. No rolling off if it's already below the threshold.

right... which is why I'm saying we have no idea it if is DAT of any sample rate... could be analog tape into a soundblaster for all we know.

Thank you Reggie and James. It just looked weird to me being that it is a SBD. I did compare this to the image in the sticky for Lossy or 32Khz DAT and it just looked similar for the exception of where the dropoff was. Many thanks again.

Could be, but the spec over 16K is reminiscent of 32kHz DAT. Which I presume is what prompted the Dr.'s inquiry.
