sugarmegs.org???
What's up with sugarmegs.org? (http://tela.sugarmegs.org/_asxtela/-alphalist.txt) I stumbled across this site; it's a stream site ala archive.org, but what format are the streams in, mp3? FLAC? SHN? All of the above?
I see they've got some good stuff on there that I wouldn't mind ripping to my computer (not for trading purposes, BTW) and splitting up into tracks, etc but I'm not gonna bother if it's lossy shite. Did about four different searches and could find nothing, hence why I ask... No members have liked this post.

Re: sugarmegs.org???
sugarmegs was one of the first FTP trade servers around - years before etree.
they used to host a list of lossless FTP servers.. that type of trading has kinda come & gone for most. great to still see them online after all this time. No members have liked this post.

Re: sugarmegs.org???
If you open an .asx file in Windows Media Player or in any other app. that supports it, you can check in File > Property how it is encoded. For example a Yes show from the website: Windows Media Audio 9, 40 kbps, 32 kHz, stereo 2-pass CBR. Lossy crap

Re: sugarmegs.org???
all streams are lossy, as far as I know.
but sugarmegs.org does link in the Further network - which is lossless trading. http://www.furthurnet.org/index.php it was/is the bridge technology between FTP & torrent servers a brief history of trading online No members have liked this post.

Re: sugarmegs.org???
Thanks for the responses, guys, 'ppreciate it.
Sounds like it's mainly lossy, which is too bad- they got some good stuff. Hence why I love sites like the Den because of the fact that it's mainly quality over quantity here. Even DIME is a bit of a free for all (probably why I let my account over there lapse a couple years back...) No members have liked this post.
