goes in goose, comes out duck
I'm confused.
I switched to a different computer to download and on this one, I download flac files but they appear on my box as winamp media files. Why is this happening? and what does it mean? duh.... thanks in advance No members have liked this post.

Re: goes in goose, comes out duck
Maybe you have foobar chosen for playing them on PC 1 and Winamp on PC 2?

Re: goes in goose, comes out duck
Aren't you able to associate certain files (and extensions) with certain applications? It just sounds like on that computer, flac files are associated with winamp.

Re: goes in goose, comes out duck
Yes. This is a file association issue. The computer recognizes the .flac extension and associates it with a program that uses it (along with displaying that programs associated icon in the windows display window.) in this case winamp. It may be that your other computer had the flac plugin for winamp and this one doesn't or it is built into the version of winamp you currently have. It might have displayed the plugins icon before and now it is showing winamp.
If you want to force the computer to open flac file with another program (which will change the icon to the program's flac one) do this. when in my computer ? tools > folder options click on file types tab browse to flac or shn or whatever click change browse to the .exe of the program that opens the flac file, etc.
