So, I don't enable DHT when creating torrents as per the instructions.

Just noticed it's enabled automatically in my utorrent. Does this impact any way in the speed I can download or upload at?

In brief: DHT enabled in the client will let it to use DHT if it is allowed by torrent file.

So no impact on speeds in case of TTD's torrents, but possible increase of speeds for torrents from elsewhere.
