Mac iMovie/iDVD for concert DVDs?
Is it generally frowned upon to use imovie/idvd to create/synch concert DVDs? I know they dont have as many features, but is there any loss of quality compared to using more advanced programs like final cut, or Vegas on a PC?

Loss of quality really isnt an issue. You are going to have a hell of a time trying to synch though using iMovie. It is really a shitty program. You are much better off using Final Cut Express/HD

Re: Mac iMovie/iDVD for concert DVDs?
as toto said, its not so much that you'd "lose quality", but that you don't have control over the amount/type of compression being used...i say go for it...however, you might find that someone with a "higher end" set up would be willing to do it for ya, or look into getting Final Cut Express...its reasonably priced and has alot of nice features for a consumer-level editing prog

Re: Mac iMovie/iDVD for concert DVDs?
Thanks for the input guys, I also have a PC with Vegas 6, which im learning to use now. I think I'll stick with that. Its just that I know imovie really well, and was wondering if that would work just as well... I guess its time to move up to the next level of video editing software...

Quote:
do you use Toast to burn with? if so, just select Video tab, "DVD-Video from Video_TS folder", drag the Video_TS folder that you d/l'ed to the window and burn. some DVD players will also play "data discs" & Drag-to-Disc burned dvds No members have liked this post.
