Help with crack CD

Just downloaded Champ Manager 2006, for which I got 2 files. One was the CD which I have burnt the other was called “Crack” Installed the game on to PC which seemed to have worked fine, just gone to play the game and I get a message along the lines of “Please enter a valid CD-Rom”

What is the Crack for?
Is there anyway around this?
Should I have burnt the game onto a DVD disc rather then a cd?

Any help will be much appreciated.
