shn > tlc > flac
I downloaded a torrent in shn format, I want to convert
to flac. Do I make a st5 in shn, then one in flac to verify that it is exactly the same. I can do the converting part. I just want this in flac, but I want to do it right.. No members have liked this post.

Re: shn > tlc > flac
You could make a wav .md5 to show that they are the same. If someone has the same SHN set as you they can decode to wav, then verify with the wav .md5.

Re: shn > tlc > flac
that will work but even easier is to use ffp/st5, as the checksums will remain the same regardless of which format it is (shn, flac, ape, wav or any lossless format supported by shntool/tlh). you can either generate st5 checksums from the original shn and converted flac files and compare them by eye or use a txt editor to change "shn" to "flac" within the checksum file (eg open with notepad and use replace function), resave, and run that against the new files. If the checksums match your conversion is 100% secure.
