I think I figured out why my connection keeps dropping out
I am connected through my modem/wireless router. Wirelessly. Anyways.. my computer will be connected and running fine.. but there is another laptop in the house and it seems like I start getting the drop out problems when they have their laptop on.
I am thinking maybe the two laptops are fighting over the same signal.. is there something I need to set up to make this not happen.. my router is supposed to support up to 4 computers No members have liked this post.

Re: I think I figured out why my connection keeps dropping out
That shouldn't cause a problem unless both laptops share the same IP address. I have multiple wirelessly connected computers in my house with no problem. Make sure that both laptops are either getting their address assigned to them or (if you want set up port forwarding for your laptop so you aren't firewalled) make sure to assign them different static IP addresses.

Re: I think I figured out why my connection keeps dropping out
When he says to make sure they both don't have the same IP addressed to them, we are talking about the local IP assigned to them by the router. It's the IP that looks like 192.169.1.xxx

subnet & gateway(router) should always be the same. example: pc1 IP: 192.168.1.101 subnet: 255.255.255.0 gateway: 192.168.1.1 pc2 IP: 192.168.1.102 subnet: 255.255.255.0 gatway: 192.168.1.1 Also, if you were using a Torrent client on each. You would pick a different PORT for each client to chat on example: pc1 uses port: 48450 pc2 uses port: 45460 then in the router - make an entry to port forward each port to each IP torrent port: 48450 --> 192.168.1.101 torrent port: 48460 --> 192.168.1.102 No members have liked this post.
