Re: Why are lossy audio DVD's acceptable?
I don't take it too seriously. I want to liberate my video in the highest quality, thus I record everything in XP for the highest bitrate possible. When it comes to Grateful Dead, I am thankful that the people making them are encoding in LPCM due to the fine quality of the overdubbed audio. If I was doing that kind of production I would not compromise the integrity of the original source.

Analog dynamic compression is not "lossy", like we talk about when digital audio is encoded to a "lossy" data compression scheme like MP3 ot AC3.
