Do you NEED a tracker to torrent something?
I've got a video file of some old family home movies. I wanted to see if I could just torrent the file for relatives, but didn't want to put it up on a public tracker.
Does anyone know if it's possible to just create a torrent with no tracker? I know you can torrent files with just an infohash and no actual URL or torrent file download, because that's the way Magnet Links are used. But I can't find anything on creating a torrent and not using a tracker.

Re: Do you NEED a tracker to torrent something?
You should be able to create a torrent file in whatever client you use to download them. From there, just leave the tracker info blank. You can send the .torrent file to whoever you want to download the videos. I haven't tried that method in a few years, though. Here's a link that might help: http://bootstrike.com/Articles/CreateTorrent/
