Harddrive space
I am needing help. I have a 160gig harddrive and it is showing it almost full. I have deleted everything that I can see possible. I am not running many programs and I have deleted videos etc out of my folders. Any suggestions. The only thing I can think of is I had to install the reboot vds on my computer because it crashed. Any help would be great.

and I know that is not what you mean.. so what are you talking about? OR - if you like to paint with a large brush - format the drive - that will clear it! No members have liked this post.

Re: Harddrive space
Stupid question but, did you empty the trash after deleting stuff?
But, same as what Wolf said.... OS? and clarification on VDS.

Re: Harddrive space
could be a big log file from a program that built up slowly over time. run a search for any file over 1 GB in size.

Go to start->search->files and folders and choose files larger than 100000kB to start with.. see if you have any giant files lurking.. then lower the size until you start finding the culprits.

Re: Harddrive space
Giant files is a good place to check first.
If you run a lot of Java animations on a PC another place to check is your Java cache. For some reason in my set-up this cache never gets cleared. On my system it is here: Documents and Settings->[Your-Username]->Application Data->Sun->Java->Deployment->cache->javapi->vx.y->file where "vx.y" is whatever version of Java you are using (e.g. "v1.0"). Way down in that directory called "file" is stuff that never gets cleared on my system. It is mostly small image files but there might be thousands of them. It can really build up in there, and it seems you have to delete it all manually (unless I am missing something obvious). At least worth checking out...I discovered this myself when my "boot" drive also started mysteriously filling up. No members have liked this post.

Re: Harddrive space
Thanks to everyone that posted on this. Jameskg not sure why but all my old shows I downloaded where in there I cleared out 120 gigs I thought I deleted everything out of the folder that I put them in. guygee I have a whole lot of Java caches too. I am getting this thing running like I want slowly but surely.
