DVD buring problems
Hello out there, I've just gotten myself a DVD burner tried to d/l and burn a couple shows and I seem to keep getting a variant on the same problem, my audio and video don't sync up. I am using Nero Smartstart Essentials, I have tried to burn 2 different DVD (the Dylan Rolling Thunder and Zappa 10/31/81)
numerous time with different variations (merging files to one and other tweeks) and keep getting the same error, on the dylan it plays fine until the first break then it unsyncs Zappa was off from the get go. When I play the vids on my comp they are fine so I know it's not a source problem, if anyone who uses the same burning software would be so kind as to give me a walkthru of how they would burn a d/l from here I would be forever grateful. Thanks to all who respond and to TTD community as a whole for helping provide me with untold hours of great music and (hopefully) killer DVD's. No members have liked this post.

Re: DVD buring problems
I don't think a burning software can cause sync problems.

Re: DVD buring problems
If it is not the issue with format (PAL; audio mp2; DVD-R+) then try to check disc quality with Nero CD-DVD Speed (freeware): http://www.cdspeed2000.com/download.html
Setting or correctly scan speed has to be set at 8x. If you get PO failures, PI over 15 or jitter over 13 it can be problem with the disc brand or/and your burner. BTW: never burn a disc at maximum speed it's labelled - half is usually the best. No members have liked this post.

Re: DVD buring problems
Thanks for the input I finally got one to burn right I believe it was an error on my initial import if asked if I wanted to merge VOB's (or something to that effect) I said no the first times but this time I said yes, burned it slower and it seemed to work fine, off to the races!

Re: DVD buring problems
since this thread has my issue, DVD burning problems I'll post my issue here.
using two types of software I have the same problem, no audio... my shows play fine from the computer and I get picture on my dvd player but no audio on my dvd player. do I need to do some converting here or something before ripping these downloaded shows to a usable dvd? I am guessing this might be the case but thought I'd double check. if so, how? Thanks in advance. nero gives me this when I que up a dvd to be burned: One or more files could not be added to a compilation. The file 'J:\DMB\DMB2002-12-14DVDs\DMB_12_14_02_D1\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.BUP' is invalid - you need MPEG-1 which was encoded for Video-CD: audio: 44.1 kHz; stereo; 224 kbit/s video: 352 x 240 / 29.97 Hz or 352 x 240 / 23.976 Hz or 352 x 288 / 25 Hz The following problems were found: - stream encoding which is invalid for a [Super] Video CD - no video - no audio The file 'J:\DMB\DMB2002-12-14DVDs\DMB_12_14_02_D1\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO' is invalid - you need MPEG-1 which was encoded for Video-CD: audio: 44.1 kHz; stereo; 224 kbit/s video: 352 x 240 / 29.97 Hz or 352 x 240 / 23.976 Hz or 352 x 288 / 25 Hz The following problems were found: - stream encoding which is invalid for a [Super] Video CD - no video - no audio The file 'J:\DMB\DMB2002-12-14DVDs\DMB_12_14_02_D1\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_0.BUP' is invalid - you need MPEG-1 which was encoded for Video-CD: audio: 44.1 kHz; stereo; 224 kbit/s video: 352 x 240 / 29.97 Hz or 352 x 240 / 23.976 Hz or 352 x 288 / 25 Hz The following problems were found: - stream encoding which is invalid for a [Super] Video CD - no video Thanks in advance. Re: DVD buring problems
It looks like you are trying to burn an SVCD, not a DVD.

Re: DVD buring problems
Try using another program to burn your DVDs.
ImgBurn is often recommended. You can download it from here: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download For step-by-step instructions on how to burn a DVD-Video disc, follow this guide (complete with screen shots): http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=4632 No members have liked this post.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion/advice. I did use imgburn and it ripped the CDs and the sound did work on my dvd player...unlike nero and roxio. Thanks again. No members have liked this post.

Re: DVD buring problems
This thread helped me get up and running very quickly, thank you.
However, after reading ImgBurn functions, http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=6392, I'm perplexed as to why the burned DVD works on my computer but my Sony CD/DVD Player DVP-S560D connected to my TV cannot read the disk, so I'm unable to view on my TV. Re: DVD buring problems
Actually got it to work. As it turns out if you change the auto-populate function in imgburn and use non-numeric characters the label can be read - cool.
