Removing logos from recorded programs
Anyone know how to do this? Is there free software available?
Thanks.

Re: Removing logos from recorded programs
[sarcasm on]
I find a little piece of wax paper kind of just blurs the screen and the logo so you still see the light through it and not a hole in the screen....... Seriously though, frame by frame photoshop each one out? Then reassemble all new images. Sure there's stuff that can blur or block out unwanted parts of a video, but then again most people probably want things left unmodified, wouldn't they? If you don't have a source pre-graphics why pretend you do by artificially removing them badly. Other than doing it by hand one by one you're still going to get crappy results unless you go to Pixar Animation or something equally ridiculous. Save your time and money and make your mind erase the unwanted stuff on your screen. If that doesn't work, go read a book. [/sarcasm off] I really don't know.

Re: Removing logos from recorded programs
Why doesn't anyone try to be helpful without questioning motives that
were never given? The poster didn't say he was going to flood TTD with "inferior" modified recordings. I routinely de-logo video for my own viewing enjoyment (with varying results) but only trade or torrent the original versions. Try a search for virtualdub or virtualdub mod programs (freeware), and for delogo or logoaway filters (also freeware). You can also find links to these at www.videohelp.com (great site with loads of links and tutorials). Opaque and motion logos are the hardest to remove, you'll have to experiment and decide what artifacts you can live with in the finished product. For things like time-code, I tend to just cover with a black box so I don't have to watch the numbers whiz by. Good luck and remember that the folks here (and most collectors) will want un-modified originals should you happen to share....... No members have liked this post.

Thanks for your reply. I didn't know traders want logos left intact, in fact I thought the opposite was true. I do have virtualdub and can probably find the filters, but since people would rather have the logos left on the video, I won't bother.

This allows the downloader the choice to attempt to "improve" the recording. A "modified" recording cannot have the repairs un-done should a better processing technique become available in the future. I always keep the originals as a source for my listening or viewing discs which I do tend to alter....... No members have liked this post.

In fact, my idea left the original video intact - didnt waste any time futzing with the computer & gave the same results. I don't do any video editing at this time, but I believe the correct answer to this question is - find a better original source. No members have liked this post.
