What are the best DVD authoring programs besides TMPGEnc and Ulead?
I'm having trouble "installing" TMPGEnc on Vista, so I tried Ulead, and its options are crazy limited. Anyone have better recommendations? I don't wanna have to try with about 5 crappy programs before finding a good one.

I can't really say about Vista. I like DVD Lab or Encore. DVD Lab has crappy menu rendering, but it has a ton of features.

Crappy menu rendering meaning what? D: I'm not good at such hyperprofessional scholarly terms.

Re: What are the best DVD authoring programs besides TMPGEnc and Ulead?
If you use static background in DLP, menu is not as sharp as for example rendered by TDA - links are more blurred. When you use a video as the background all stuff over it becomes terribly jagged.
Encore is opposite: it has great menu design options and rendering quality but unfortunately it very often forces video re-encoding, and doesn't accept MP2 audio which is basic format of the European DVB broadcasts. DVD Maestro is the best but it no longer can be bought, and requires a patch to accept some non DVD standard DVB streams (i.e. 544x576). If you don't need secondary audio, 16:9 menus, and subtitles then stay with TDA 1.6. No members have liked this post.

Surprised no-one has mentioned Sony Video Vegas with DVD Architect. Its also great for making multicam mixes and syncing additional audio streams.

DVD Architect is great for DV / avi source but if I recall well it has some issues with MP2, and DVB videos.
